Europe - One day only

Postby Escapee » Mon Jul 14, 2014 9:42 pm

your thoughts are welcomed!

If you only had one 24-hour period and limited cash and you could choose from Paris, Rome or Amsterdam, which would you recommend for an American tourist? What would you do in those 24 hours?
it was

I've never been to Amsterdam. I have been to Paris though and I loved it.
I loved Rome too but as an italian who saw prettier things than Rome I would go back to Paris.

Champs elisee, tour effeil, montmarte, sacre coeur, louvree.

My problem with Rome is visiting the Vatican I was pushed on a heavy line... a really boring heavy line. San Pietro was very nice inside but I can't say I was more amazed than anything else. Colosseum is better outside than inside and well I did visit a free area with some of the old temples which was nice but I don't know... I did have a good time with my friends.

I've been to Paris and Rome and I would hands down choose Rome. It is a walking city and so much history with every step.

Paris is great. Rome is great.

No matter where I go - I would not run from one tourist attraction to another. I would just immerse myself in the city life.

I would tell you to stay away as 24 hours is far to short for the nice city's, come back when you have more time.

Paris and Rome are both amazing. If i could choose i would go for Rome and as Mynerva said - dont rush to see all the tourist attractions. Sit an hour at the spanish steps and just observe or at the Trevi Fountain instead of trying to cramp in Colloseum, Vatican and Forum Romanum in one day.

Haven't seen Amsterdam so can't give any advice on that.
Have a great trip whatever you decide :)
