Oh. Hadn't thought about heat. For a tourist, which would you say is going to be less difficult to navigate ? I have never traveled outside North America before.

And I only have one day. I might be able to get two Maybe. (Layover for work trip in Europe )

They're the same difficulty in navigation. The romans can't speak english and the parisans don't want to speak english.

okay!

IF it happens, two days in Rome, then hop on a plane and head to the destination to enjoy a day before I work for four.

I'm crossing my fingers that it does happen.

Thanks for the advice.

Romans can't even speak italian

Well, that's easy then, isn't it? In Amsterdam more than 90% will speak english, most fluently.

Highest percentage of english speaking people outside the British isles and Eire.

Well, first of all, 24h is not really much, is it? So you won't see much of the cities anyways.

From my view though, the choices you give are incomplete, or even wrong. The most interesting european cities in my eyes are London or Berlin. Paris is highly overrated and Rome in summer is out of bounds in any case, unless you like heatstrokes.

I would say screw it and go to London or Prague instead.
there's those thinking more or less less is more
but if less is more how you're keeping score?
Means for every point you make
your level drops
kinda like its starting from the top
you can't do that...

Very good choices - especially Prague. Love Prague!

Well, it went from very good to maybe! If I do go, I am looking at cities with layovers en route to Germany. London, Amsterdam, and Paris. I threw Rome in, just because. London is the more expensive of the three for out of pocket expenses.

But you all have given me much to consider. thank you !

Rome. The romans left their stamp all over europe. I have been to Rome during all seasons and yes, it gets hot, but it's not the damp kind of hotness that everyone loathes. I love the city and I highly recommend to NOT just run from tourist place to tourist place.

Learning a few basic frases in italian will also earn you many smiles and people who will try to help, even if they do not speak a single word in english. ;) My cousin lives there.
