Why to use GCM instead of GM (or LCS).

Whats New in v0.50
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
-Added Melee 2 Engine region option. Melee 2 is an enhanced melee combat engine that adds a layer of skill to melee combat. Requires region server v0.50 to enable. Read the attached notecard for more info (P.S. this forms the basis of the realism mod which is still in development)

-Added Melee ONLY region option. This option will enforce that only melee weapons are able to hit the meter. With the addition of the Melee 2 engine this should make melee ONLY sims a lot more fun and interactive.

-Added Region option to disable bubble protection. This is the security layer that stops downed players from attacking from a bubble. (This was a requested feature since some sims prefer to allow attacking from a bubble?)

-Added a Demo Seige weapon to the SDK as an example of what can be achieved with the use of the OPEN API and OBJECT INTERFACE scripts (Hopefully some of you builders out there will use these scripts to create something cool)

-Added support for tracked armaments. A plug in system that will enforce being dis-armed when you are disarmed in RP the person disarming you will have an option to turn off your attached weaponry until you manually re-arm (Requires weapons that use the GCM Weapon API)

-Added 2 more soundset to the meter 1 for males and 1 for females. (thanks Cloey)

-Optimized core script and shaved 4k off the size, making it even less script heavy and improving the performance of the overall system.

-Fixed issue where sitting on a vechile like a tarn or a horse would cause you to suffer faill damage.

-Fixed the missing standing while bound animation.

-Removed the bind time delay region option. This option was deemed not required since most sims disabled it and because it was a sticking point for the meters overall adoption. So as of version 0.50 there is no longer an enforced delay between clicking the bubble and binds rezzing.

-Performed intense testing to ensure optimal performance

Just going to toss in my coins about the "melee 2"-system.

The idea behind it is good, but the mechanics behind it aren't the way to go. The first impression people get when seeing the combo list is: "pfff can't be bothered, too much", while in fact it really isn't much. Still, first impressions are strong.

You're on to something, but I'd make the implementation a lot simpler, why not just make some "temporary buff"-gestures instead?
That way people won't have to memorize combinations of buttons to press or new moves, but just a gesture which they might be able to bind to their mouse or other buttons...

Some example 'gestures':
"Killer Strike": Your next 2 strikes will do 50% more damage. Can only be activated once every 15 seconds.
"Warrior's Resolve": Your next 3 melee strikes will generate 7 stamina and health/hit. Can only be activated once every 15 seconds.
"Torcadino Shield Stance": The next 3 incoming attacks will do 50% less damage to you. Can only be activated once every 15 seconds.
"Gorean Parry": You will reflect 150% of the damage of the next incoming melee hit. Can only be activated once every 15 seconds.

And then make it so that they can only use one of them every 15 seconds and only one activated at a time so it'll be a bit more tactical rock-paper-scissors. Give it gorean inspired names and people will be more open for it. You probably should even give it a sound-effect so people can hear and see when others activated a certain effect.

Simpler, cleaner... And you can tweak the numbers over time if one ability is used much more than another etc.

Eventually you could even use gestures like that to buff certain melee weapons:
"Spear Charge": Your next spear-strike restores your stamina and health by 50%.
"Backstab": Your next dagger-strike does 600% more damage.
Just to give some examples on how 'I' would've tried to implement an enjoyable combat experience in the lagfest that is SL.

I like the idea of gestures.
Buttons and such is kinda Street Fighter style.

I to like the idea of gestures. It seems a little simpler and might work out better than combo's. I will play with the idea a little see if I can find a happy medium.

Thanks for the suggestion.

The problem with gestures is that without a special viewer, you are very limited to the number of hotkeys that you can bind them to, and half of everyone's gesture keys are already consumed by weapon drawing and stance/arrow swapping.

I get around it by well, macros. I'm kind of a macro whore
