Well, positions are reversed, in that case. Because I'd be interested in playing in a meterless Gorean sim, if it was one in which people would let the RP be the RP, where ICA was ICC, and in which the people would actually be RP-ing with those present rather than waiting around for specific people to continue scripted story-lines. I suppose that is my preferred style of RP, these days (which is not to say that para-RP is, but then again para and meterless aren't the same thing).
There are things that can be done to make using the meter less invasive and more part and parcel of a sim wide storyline or sim theme.

Well, THAT would be something that might actually be interesting to talk about. Those 'things'.

If you are interested in creating an environment to attract better roleplayers (more experienced or from other genre) you have got to offer something more than just "RAID!!!".

Sure. But I'd be interested in hearing what you have in mind. Because, clearly, everything I have mentioned is stuff you have laughed off or straw-manned as "RAID!"

I oversimplified this in just saying "events". It takes a constant priming of he pump with additional fodder for players. The current population will support about 1 sim of this type with decent traffic as long as you have good sim rules and a set of loremasters. You can bet people will be going over the rules with a fine toothed comb and even experienced roleplayers often want to be fed hooks/stories.

I don't follow.

Lastly...all traffic isn't equal. There is a much easier way if you just want avatars on a sim. Park your sim next to the north woods, raid and allow rescue raids. Don't require that FW wear veils and allow FW and slaves alike to travel all across gor to your city gates without needing an escort. Recruit a few super bows so you aren't constantly losing. You will be rolling in avatars.

Great. You came up with sarcasm. Do you honestly feel this is anything like the thing I or others here want? Or, in other words, can you spot the huge straw man you inserted in this last paragraph of yours?

Maybe, by way of exercise, you should stop 'fighting straw with straw' for a few posts. Never mind my big bad straw men arguments. You try do do without them. Just to see if you can do it.

Glaucon I was being serious. There was zero sarcasm in the last bit. In the current environment that is exactly how you would accomplish a high traffic sim.

The first option is harder and I don't know how you would be able to recruit the admins/loremasters for another round. That may change in a few months in the absence of no sims of this kind.
Some people create their own storms, then get upset when it rains.

Well, fair enough. But no one here (except one, maybe) is interested in traffic for traffic's sake.

Anyway, I'd be more interested in a RP sim-setup that didn't require all that admining and loremastering.
