If it's OOC, it shouldn't matter.

If it's an IC tournament, then you should structure the rules around whatever genre you're using as the backdrop.
This isn't fucking Survivor. We aren't a tribe.

If I won't put up with an in-character owner trying to control my OOC life, what makes you think I'll put up with you trying to do that?

Surely things can be "added to" a thought without needing to give you a pat on the back.

I crave pats on the back.

@ Leah: I agree, though I can see people prefering to have a 'SEMI' IC tourney.

I do think that the traditional tournaments in SL Gor were heavily influenced the life-styler attitudes that were once prevalent there, before places like this forum made most people more aware of the advantages of making a clear IC-OOC distinction.

There isn't a back patting smiley so you will have to settle for

OOC means out of character, right? So like, yeah- shouldn't really matter if female avs participate or even neko avs for that matter. I'd be more concerned about fairness, enforcing any rules for the tourney like 'no jumping', or checking weapons for cheats, etc. than I would be in the appearance of the avatars. Otherwise, make a dress code, or something. Or make it full on IC if you're worried about guys getting their fragile egos shattered by being bested in a video game by a toon with tits. :D

Might as well have those kinds of tourneys on the GE sims. Tournaments in the BTB ones are male oriented.

Probably true. Many BtB sims claim to be all about the RP, but many of them do retain some of the old life-styler element. Or maybe I should not call that life-style, but just the old mashing together of IC and OOC.

If it's an OOC tournament, it shouldn't matter where the thing is held. It's OOC.

Or is that impossible for you to comprehend?

OOC is a hard concept guise.

If the tournament is OOC, who cares who or what fights for that matter, as long as the matches are fair.

If the tournament is IC, and a woman wants to fight, tell her to make a male avatar and come fight.

If either of those options bother you, then what are you doing in a roleplay environment in the first place?

Big yes from me here.
OOC, guys what would you be afraid of? No one will actually capture you
Besides if you're as good as you claim then you should not worry.

If OOC tournament all that should matter is a valid meter and weapon being used. If a man's ego is too fragile to handle losing to a woman in a computer game they do not need to enter the tournament. Simple enough.

The way to make a "valid" IC tournament that is open to Goreans regardless of gender is create a festival for your city along the lines of Kajuralia. That festival alone shows that Goreans were not the stick-up-the-butt tightwads and had a good sense of humour. If they allow their slaves a day to do all sorts of outrageous things without punishment, why would they not permit their free women a similar vein of fun and entertainment?
