Alt Morality...Love this term

It sounds like you've had a very bad experience with someone, Rock. That's unfortunate that you felt so put out by someone's RP. I think you've confused me with someone else though. I've never had a conversation with my alt in the same group chat. But, I find that a strange practice. I also don't consider myself a super elite role player, though I have dabbled in Scribe and Magistrate RP. I would ask that you not lump me in with whoever you've had run ins with in the past. If you have something to get off your chest, my PMs are open. But, I'd prefer this thread not be reduced to personal nonsense.

I have a male friend who played a warrior. He had several slaves refuse to play with him and leave his chain because someone got the idea that he was someone else- a female. He's a male in RL but he lost several RP partners he was just starting off with because another player convinced enough people that he was piloted by a female behind the screen. As much as we would love to think this doesn't matter, it happens and it really destroys some people's experience. People who have nothing to do with anyone else's drama. That was the experience I was referring to in my posts when I spoke of people making assumptions and speculations. It can really cause havoc for people who have done nothing wrong.

Sure use an alt as part of a specific story and its great and i think everyone agrees on that.

I even understand those who play both the companion and slave of a guy.

However over the years ive seen alts been used for so much crap im leaning towards being against more than one alt pr sim.

Metagaming is offcourse lame noone argues against that,

However one person holding several big roles in a sim on different alts sucks hard also. Remember it keeps others from that position.

Another thing to remember when you use lots of alts is that you spend less time pr alt. Which means their story will be less deep and not as big.

If it doesn't show, then you are an awesome multitasker and should be put in a glass cage and put on display for all the kids to come and see.

if you want to undermine your sim and see this morality at work..... then first rule of being a sim owner... promote extensively the use of Alts in your groups, make grand statements in the forums about this new policy and openness.

Then sit back.. watch the drama, watch the sim die to public applause and dispair from those niave enough to continue justifying the use of alts to enhance RP and immersive storylines

I had a friend who always dual-logged and I told her "If you stop playing on two to three characters at the same time and finally care to give me some attention when we rp, we can start to rp again." I am sorry, I am not going to be satisfied with crumbs when I can have the whole cake just because someone suffers from severe RP-ADS.

If I know or get the feeling you are an alt, I will probably not involve you deeply into my storylines. Why? Not because I hate alts or am paranoid, I couldn't care less, but because generally speaking alts turn out to be unreliable. They randomly poof (person moved on to their next character) and show up and more often than not leave you hanging high and dry. Exceptions of course are longterm alt characters.

I am speaking about those who play 3-8 alts within the same timeframe. If I know that, I'll avoid you (and most people aren't as good as they think at keeping their alts a secret. ), simply because I am not up for waiting to see if I somehow fit into your alt-shedule this week. It's RP leeching at its best, imho.

I came to this conclusion after years of not making a difference between alts and -always- ending up with "Oh...okay, cool, I see how to twist my story now that you moved on...again."
