Weapons Training

Weapons Training

Postby Gorean Monkey » Tue Jun 01, 2010 3:24 pm

Does anyone out there know of a good sim for weapons training, specifically for Second Life Goreans? I'm having a hard time finding a place where I can go and just learn how to fight. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Crimson Spear has its own thread here. They do weapons training but other trainings too.
She smiled. "I have grown fond of the smell of bosk," said she. Kamchak smiled. He held his hand to the girl. "Ride with me, Aphris of Turia," said Kamchak of the Tuchuks. Image

I also handle weapon training, by appointment.

500 L an hour.

I figure, given the fact that an SL hooker charges thousands for something that's fleeting and transitory, 500 for a skillset that you'll take with you for the rest of your days in SLGor isn't so much.

Honestly. unless you want to do your training IC, I would do the following. f you want to learn bows, the best way is to get one and then join the CTF group. I hate to say that, but you WILL learn your bow in that group for sure, especially if you do hour after hour of fighting.

Any other trypes, get a weapon and fight. Swords and Daggers and other melee stuff is a bit harder to learn but you can try it in the CTF group as well. I would suggest getting a bit of IC in with your melee learning. Find a Warrior and ask them to train you. It might get you beat up, or get you a no, but sooner or later in your travels, you will find someone that will teach you.

I asked who the best bow was and people gave me their opinions. I looked at whose name showed up the most and then I messaged them. We hit it off like the US and Iraq, but I didn't give up and finally after some pestering, soem cursing and name calling, I got taught simply because I would not take no for an answer. I would not suggest this method but it worked for me. All that training paid off and my first character was no slouch with the bow in anyones eyes.

Thats my .02. Others will have different opinions for sure. You can learn the basics of the bow in about 7 minutes. The rest is practice. Same with Melee. 7 minutes to explain, the rest is practice.

I'll stick with the free options. Good suggestions, everyone.

If you're interested in becoming an Assassin you could also seek out a Black Caste group and try to get into one of their training programs. I'm not sure who is still training Candidates in SL Gor but in addition to roleplaying a big part of Black Caste training involves weapons and metered combat. Those groups also offer free training.

The simplest and easiest and cheapest way to go about getting the basics down lies in joining a group or a homestone. End of story, I'm quite upfront about this in my profile blurb.

However, there remain a slim number of those that are willing to pay for an accelerated series of lessons on their schedule, rather than playing catch as catch can.

I wish you luck in your search.

Actually, if the non-Goreans ever discovered they could get it free, Gor would be FILLED with newly arrived warriors.

That aside, would you teach a female - in a female avatar?
it was

I'd teach a furry that was willing to pay.

This isn't some crusade over btb and such stuff.

If the woman just wanted some dagger pointers, I'd probably do that for free if I wasn't busy. It's pretty simple.

If she wanted something more robust well, that'd be costly.

RE: Getting it for free--

There's a few slobs out there that try. My former kajira, who has gone on to much bigger and better things, used to complain all the time about guys that'd show up and were obviously not really there for rp making a beeline for the tavern and try to get some pixel sex.

I told her I could belt her-- or if she wanted, she was free to log off, tp out, or lie her ass off about something she needed to do elsewhere

You can learn for free at Crimson Spear... if you cannot be there in the scheduled group classes they assign you a mentor for one-on-one training 24/7, just gotta contact Dyce Boucher or Ensiferum Dyrssen... they teach men, women, slaves - melee / ranged / defense / raid techniques / aerial assault / mounted combat / Capture the Flag / Warrior Run / preparation for tournament ... you name it :D

No fees.
