Because, to be honest, the roleplay between the killer and the 'Mark' is between two consensual roleplayers and nowt to do with the sim. I say this because I will not waste my time hunting someone that doesn't want to be part of the Assassin roleplay. Therefore, you can deduce that when you see Judas hunting he has pre-arranged it with the other player. What then, is there to mod or rule to follow?

Nothing to mod and no rules but your own. its a good way to run it, Matey. However I still prefer not to inform the mark because in doing so it takes away some of the surprise. What I might start doing is not tell them and just at that final moment, slap a "You been Vossed" sticker on the marks forehead. (( wear this please ;-))

I agree with Solomon here. I don't do scritpied role-play with a mark. Only one's who will know is myself, client, sim owner if its in there rules they need to know. But lately past 6 months or so, sim owners don't even ask me who it is. They just say happy hunting, hope its not me.
The difference between Tactics and Strategy?
Tactics is showing Dracula a cross to drive him off.
Strategy is making the cross out of Kryptonite so you can drive off both Dracula and Superman.

I take your point (Sol) but I think you've missed mine.

It is precisely because I have had so many kills invalidated by the Mark or the Sim Owners that I will not now waste any more of my precious downtime in pursuit of something that is going to get messy and something that I will not enjoy.

I will now only ever hunt someone that is prepared to see the entire roleplay through.

Yes I see more clearly now (Judas). Actually I work in a similar but different way. It basically means I very rarely work in the field so to speak. If someone comes to me and asks to hire me, I will enquire OOCly if they can provide me with Note Cards detailing the build up in RP of the need to hire a Killer. It's my opinion that it goes a long way to prevent OOC assassinations. As you can imagine, not very many people can produce such note cards. If they can, then in my experience, all involved turn out to be in agreement and will honor the hunt.

This way probably wont work for many, the main point its that it works for me. I also feel that the time line between my kills is perhaps more realistic, I am sure a Killer would not be backed up with so much work he has no time to brush his teeth with a twig and ash from the fire pit. We are paid with Gold and those in the know will agree that one gold coin would keep a man for the best part of a year, unless he lived in Glorious Ar.

I have noticed over my years that so many Killers seem to be in a race with each other to notch up kill after kill after kill in the quest to make a name for themselves. I know Killers who claim to have over 100 successful kills to their names yet are despised for poor RP and drama and I know one killer who has not killed a single mark in all his long time as a Killer yet is respected by virtually everyone who interacts with him. My point? A good reputation also helps to protect ones RP from the scrutiny of the mods...not completely...but it does help.

Agreed.

I also know one Master Assassin that takes delight in copying the meter kill into his profile. I counted 12 or so in there but on closer inspection they all appeared to be slaves.

But yes, this works for me. I am no longer 'in the the field' as you put it and I no longer encourage anyone interested in the Black Caste to join a group or put themselves through training. I still cannot believe the number of disgruntled candidates and fully fledged killers that IM me for advice and direction due to their perception of what the Caste has become these days. I sincerely hope they are not expecting me to start up a group to train them!!

Each to their own and best of luck to them (you) all.

No, just fact.

It would only be cutting to those who have an extremely high perception of self-importance.

My character is important to me and to me alone. Self preservation is a character trait that Judas has. If he something that is wrong that he knows he is unable to change, he will distance himself from that wrongness.

This is not self-importance the way you have coined it.

I wrote a message to our admin some weeks ago (including a lot of logs which i do not post here):

With compliments of Yuroki's Gorean Intelligence Service

Tal Admin,
there seem to be two groups of Assassines which hate each other and do not accept each other as Assassines

1st
Xxx lives in a camp in Treve
He threw Txxx out of his group:
Cxxx (group bxxxs), he lives in Sxxx
[log]

this group claims that Txxx broke the rules of the black caste
[Reward] (i was in Mxx IC, the reward is from January 2009)

2nd
Txxx
Txxxdoes not recognize Cxxxr as a member of the black caste
[log]

Ixxx
Ixxx does not recognize Cxxxr as a member of the black caste
[log]

More information about the friends of Cxxx: [log]

Both groups try to get their friends as master assassines in towns and denounce each other.
