Metro: Last Light

Postby Glaucon » Mon May 27, 2013 5:48 am

I am not much of a FPS-player. Maybe I am too old, maybe my reaction-time is too slow. I have always been better at thinking things through at my own speed than at direct fast and furious action. But I have to say... I have played a good bit of this shooter, and it is really quite good. Quite scary in places, lots of options to sneak and pick off bad guys one by one (though it can be fairly tricky), but also some places where you can relax. It is set in a kind another post-nuclear apocalyptic world, ala Fallout, this time set in the underground in Moscow. All the actors (in English) speak with funny Russian accents, but... it is quite well done. Loads of athmosphere. It is a part 2, but from what I have seen, you really don't need to play the first installment to get and enjoy this one.

Pretty impressive.

Havent played last light yet, heard good things. Metro 2033 (the game LL is a sequel to) was a great game.

As for the "english with funny Russian accents?"

1. Switch voice language to Russian
2. Turn on subtitles in english
3. Enjoy the immersion

On indefinite shore leave in Lydius at the moment.

Metro 2033 was fantasticly gloomy and atmospheric. It was made in Russia and based on a famous Russian short story. You should read the story if you want a bit more backgrond and atmosphere.

Ah, the game is actually Russian, then? I might just do that. Not that I mind the accents much. But it does give it a certain commical quality.

@ Darby: They do plug the book quite a lot in the game, so... I heard of it.
