Dredd was pretty cool.
47 Ronin was decent.

Here are some good ones I saw recently:

For U.S., you can watch the complete Ninja Scroll here: http://www.hulu.com/watch/574663

If you like Ninja Scroll, one of my favorites is this (I think full movie can be found on youtube also):

And some more 300 trailers!

This one looks like it could be cool, but am I the only one that thinks Channing Tatum can't deliver serious lines?

I just watched American Hustle, pretty much forced myself to watch it.

I don't get the 90% + rating this movie is getting, I usually have a general agreement with the ratings of web sites like rotting tomatoes and I do understand why I don't like or like something that the general public would.

But this is completely bogus to me. Actors perform well and the costumes... music... all well served in a silver plate but the main course, the plot and my investment for the characters was so lacking I can't get this movie at all. I would give it a 40%.

Yea. Thats one movie that struck me in the face. I couldn't be bothered. Normally, with these actors, I would be all over it - but it just sucked.

47 Ronin was depressing. Needlessly so. At the end of the original 300 you felt uplifted from the sacrifice. 47 Ronin just made you want to go stick your head in a cement mixer.

I had hoped the new 300 movie would be good - it had all the bare bones to be good - but it just felt like an excuse for a movie, as if they were playing it off to make it a trilogy. If I had gone in there just thinking it was a movie unto itself, it would have been fine, probably a great movie by that perspective. But connecting it to the ending of the last movie makes you think it will dive into the final scene of the original - but its a completely different landscape.

Loving House of Cards. Phenomenal.

I haven't seen 300, in all truth I might come across as a funny misogynist but when I saw a woman with a sword in the trailer I had an idea of the negative results that would cause.

My friends said they were surprised with the Captain America movie, considering how much work that super hero had to go through to become popular again is a given.

House of Cards is good but sometimes I feel like the protagonist holds too much smug for my taste. Certainly a show that needs a 100% attentin so I don't watch it as eagerly.

I did like Orange is the New Black considering Netflix but I am quite sure Kohan will eventually do the same crap he did with Weeds.

Got to see the new Captain America movie and it was surprisingly great, better than I even expected (and I really liked the first one).

(adding link to best trailer because can't seem to get embedded video to work)

Harlequin and I went to see it with 2 ten year olds, and the 10 year olds were bored through chunks of it, but even they liked the action sequences, which were some of the best I've seen in that genre. Harlequin and I loved the complexity of the story (also surprising for a comic book movie) and also the fact that "Hail Hydra" is now a meme. LOL

I'm still shocked about Iron Man 3 becoming the 5th highest grossing movie of all time. I'll contain my disdain for the dignity of the ladies on this forum.

In no particular order, these movies were worth the viewing from the past year; Snowpiercer, Jagten, Out of the Furnace, Rush, Prisoners, Europa Report, Disconnect... from what I remember.

For a film night, I prefer to host B-movies like 'Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus', than another Hollywood defecation.

Winter Soldier was decent.

I liked Iron Man 1. I liked Iron Man 2 a little better.

Iron Man 3 was stupid.

Avengers, however, was awesome. Super Entertaining.

Second Thor movie was entertaining as well.

Honestly - not much in the theaters draws me in anymore.

I used to live there when I was going to university.

The second 300 movie was beyond bad. It was insultingly stupid, even for a 'mindless violence and blood' action movie.

Iron Man 3 wasn't that bad, I felt. Better than 2.

Will go to see that new Captain America one, though I really should stop going to these superhero movies, I guess, and watch some gay goth poetic intellectual crap instead.

But... all in all, when it comes to entertainment, I have to say... these days, the best TV series are often better than the best movies.

Thing is, they make a crap movie like that 300 empire one. Really pretty bad, even from those that want to see that sort of movie. And then, because people liked the first one, they go to see it anyway. So, it still makes a profit. Which is exactly why crappy sequels like that get made.

They try to do that with a TV show: after a couple of episodes, the viewers go watch something else. TV shows HAVE TO deliver.

I agree with pretty much everything you said...but...

How do you explain Marvel: Agents of Shield?
