I'm really looking forward to seeing both, though I didn't know about The Bible miniseries until you posted this. I definitely won't be missing that one. Thanks :)

if i had only one choice as to what i could watch between the bible and vikings on the history channel, i'll take the vikings. the bible is a collection of stories, parables, tales, written by men claiming to be divinely inspired and speaking for god. but the vikings... now that's history. their lifestyle, culture, what they gave back to our civilization - now that's totally fascinating. and they sailed west! imagine that. living in the age of darkness, standing on a cold beach in ancient norway at night, gazing out over the sea partially shrouded in mist, gazing out to the black horizon, a few stars sinking into the sea, not knowing what lay beyond, if anything. and yet, sailing into that blackness. the vikings!

The bible is also part of our history, not only religiously but historically. I personally like to see both aspects of the stories of the bible. I can't say I'm thrilled to see Jesus portrayed as a European white guy but it's still worth the watch.

You don't have to agree ;)

Thanks for the link. I heard about this awhile back but I lost track of when it was coming on. I'll be watching both. Should be interesting.

Why would it bother you what colour Jesus was?

Thanks for posting Garian, I'll be keeping an eye out, although I am counting down the days to Series 3 of you know what at the moment :)

PS - It looks like they over did it on the blue contact lens for the Viking actors. That's a fail for me. The look like Fremen.

Because he was a Middle Eastern Jewish man. It's just not historically accurate, but then I see why they did it. It's the image most related to as Jesus, since that's how Da Vinci and others painted him to look. They were probably going for recognition over accuracy.

I have spent a bit of time in the Middle East and have seen quite a few people (jewish and arabic) who are as white as I am.
