Reelect Obama to get rid of Obamacare?

Reelect Obama to get rid of Obamacare?

Postby Mat » Fri Jul 20, 2012 3:12 pm

I have seen a good reason to elect Obama for a second term recently. The theory goes that if we were to elect Romney that the Democrats are likely to vote with the republicans and what Romney will enact to replace Obamacare while different will still be a big gvt solution. However if Obama were to be reelected than in essence he would be a lame duck the entire time as the fighting between the Republicans and the Democrats would continue much as it has been with the republicans continually chipping away at Obamacare to the point that it will have to be scraped for the gvt to move forward with really anything.

This logic is just perverse.

When your ship called Titanic is sailing straight for an iceberg, vote for the guy that would try to steer left, because then the other guys will stop him and keep heading straight for the iceberg, because if you vote for those other guys, they might still come to their senses and steer left or right.

So, you would consider voting for Obama so he can be stopped on one issue? Your morals suck man. Perverse indeed.

My goal is smaller gvt, I really do not care who or what mix is elected as long as the gvt shrinks. Other than national defense and international relations I want my federal gvt to do nothing other than what is explicitly spelled out in the constitution.

Hmmm, could one not argue that this sort of reasoning, endorsed by Mat and the Tea party is in fact treason?

All this seems to be directed at 'hurting' the federal government, paralyzing it, causing it to go bust, making it's projects fail. It is really civil war talk, an attempt to kill the Federation, isn't it?

Umm no thank you McCarthy but if you look at what I have said I have urged people to vote and said I would vote myself that in itself can not be. Furthermore I have advocated that the federal government abide by those functions outlined for it in the constitution. What I am advocating for them to stop is activity that is not explicitly permitted by the constitution.

That idea actually is an idea proposed on the front page of the libertarian party as well not the teaparty though it may be there as well but I have not looked.

Then you should be loudly fighting almost 99% of every bill Congress introduces. Do you have ANY clue how much of the budget is spent on things that help special interests only? Affordable Health Care is something that the government SHOULD be doing, which is making sure the citizenry has the opportunity to fulfill the 1st amendment. You are barking up the wrong tree.

I kind of like the idea of government funded healthcare, to put us on par with the rest of the civilized world

Agreed. I don't think Obamacare is going away - there might changes here and there but I think it's here to stay. So I suggest moving on from the focus on this issue and find something else to complain about. :hiding:

Dont know how the first amendment is applicable here for any one group over the other it would seem like I am exercising my first amendment right as well as anyone else and neither should be limited. Yes I do have a very big clue at the 99% of special interest crap that congress does and that is why I push for greater participation in the federal taxation system because a very larger percentage have no vested interest in what congress is wasting money on as it is not their money on the line.
